Hermès has just taken an unexpected and daring step into high-tech territory with the launch of its first headphones, a surprising creation signed by the experimental ateliers Horizons d’Hermès. Known for transforming luxury into functional art, the French maison is now taking the listening experience to a new level with an accessory that combines technology, design and artisanal savoir-faire.
This over-ear model, with its clean lines and striking presence, was meticulously developed over two years. More than just a device for listening to music, it is a true collector’s item. Each piece is covered in hand-stitched leather, with metallic finishes inspired by the iconic Kelly wallet. A choice that reflects not only Hermès’ tradition in leather goods, but also its ability to translate aesthetic heritage into contemporary language.
The colour palette is refined and deeply Hermès: from black to chocolate, via “rouge H”, Prussian blue and the “naturel” tone, the headphones emerge as objects of desire that combine form and function. Designed for use with Bluetooth or cable, they stand out for their minimalist yet captivating design.
According to Axel de Beaufort, creative director of Horizons d’Hermès since 2012, the project was driven by a desire to go beyond the conventional: “We try to be a little crazy every day,” he says. “The idea is not to produce thousands of units like the big audio suppliers. Our aim is to make a few, but to make them perfectly.”
Everything, from the acoustic engineering to the leather work, was developed in-house by the atelier team in an approach that respects the brand’s philosophy: quality, exclusivity and attention to detail.
With this launch, Hermès is reinforcing its position as a creator of experiential luxury, where technological innovation intertwines with the art of beauty. A sound and visual statement that promises to mark a new chapter in the brand’s history.
