Montblanc will begin the new year of 2026 with a celebration marked by symbolism and imagination. The luxury maison presents the latest limited editions of its annual Signs & Symbols collection, inspired by the Chinese zodiac and mythical Eastern figures. Combining cultural storytelling, artisanal savoir-faire and precious materials, these exclusive pieces represent the continuation of a tradition that unites art, spirituality and luxury.
The free spirit of the horse
From 17 February 2026, the Year of the Horse will commence, a sign associated with energy, ambition and freedom. To mark this occasion, Montblanc unveils The Legend of Zodiacs – The Horse Limited Edition 512. This creation pays tribute to the seventh sign of the Chinese zodiac through a piece that blends symbolism and elegance.
The sterling silver cap reveals a horse in motion, evoking the legendary celestial horses tianma, surrounded by auspicious clouds symbolising fortune and prosperity. The platinum-finished barrel features engravings inspired by the Chinese knot, a symbol of longevity, while a set topaz reinforces the vitality associated with the sign. The solid gold nib displays a winged horse, a metaphor for spiritual ascension, and the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl crowns the cap. This edition, limited to 512 pieces, reflects the auspicious number eight multiplied, alluding to abundance and success.
The collection is further complemented by accessories that enhance the horse’s imagery, such as cufflinks, a fine stationery notebook and a deep red ink, all available separately.
The strength and wisdom of dragons
Symbols of power and guardians of wisdom in Asian mythology, dragons occupy a central place in Eastern culture. Montblanc pays tribute to their mystique with A Journey Among Dragons – The Coiling Dragon, presented in two limited editions.
The Limited Edition 88 features a sterling silver cap and barrel adorned with the serpentine figure of the dragon Panlong. Eyes embellished with citrines, a body set with diamonds and solid gold details highlight the piece’s magnificence, while a translucent lacquer gradient, from deep to soft yellow, symbolises the earth element. The gold nib displays the motif of a Chinese pavilion surrounded by water, evoking tranquillity, while the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl and black onyx completes the design.
The exceedingly rare Limited Edition 8 transforms the dragon into an opulent work of art, entirely set with yellow sapphires. The piece, crafted in solid white gold, features eyes and a cone adorned with the same gemstone, while the Montblanc diamond emblem is encircled by a constellation of brilliant-cut diamonds. Details such as the hand-engraved pattern inspired by the knot of luck and the dragon-head front section reinforce the aesthetic unity of this exclusive creation.
Tradition and innovation united through luxury
With these editions, Montblanc reaffirms the link between Eastern cultural heritage and its creative spirit. More than mere writing instruments, these pieces are symbols of prosperity, protection and inspiration, designed for collectors who seek objects where tradition and innovation meet. The Montblanc Signs & Symbols collection is now available in the brand’s boutiques worldwide and online.
