Inspired by Hermès’ annual theme – The Art of Drawing – and deeply rooted in the legacy of its workshops, where leather and materials come to life under expert hands, forms evolve, and functions are reinvented. Hermès’ artistic director, Nadège Vanhée, has named her Spring 2025 collection Inside the Workshop, a tribute to the incredible leather craftsmanship that takes place in the ateliers of the 187-year-old French maison.
In a play of senses and perceptions, lines and curves are drawn with the precision of a sketch, while light glides over the contours, revealing a sophisticated and multifaceted femininity. Versatile and dynamic pieces emerge from this savoir-faire: a coat that transforms into a bomber jacket or a gilet, adapting to the rhythm of life. A wearable work of art that embraces the everyday, where beauty resides in its function. Reversible denim, enriched with meticulous details, takes on the role of a blank canvas in a continuous composition.
The ethereal transparency of silk knit filters the light, lending a second-skin aura that is subtly sensual. Pieces that hint at the silhouette in a delicate interplay of revelation and mystery, celebrating a free and fearless femininity. Different domains of craftsmanship converge, giving shape to design and substance to creative vision. Patterns overlap and repeat in perfect harmony, featuring modern graphic prints guided by the artisan’s assured hand.
In an unexpected optical game, clothing opens the door to new possibilities. Belts are worn directly over lingerie, trousers extend the waistline, creating innovative proportions. Colour dissolves gently between pieces, leading the eye to a constantly renewed perception. The artist’s palette emerges and elevates each moment. The iconic Birkin à l’envers bag and the timeless Plume bag. The eau d’artifice graphic design, with its two-tone motif, dissolves the boundaries between print and engraving, creating a trompe l’oeil effect that evokes the artisan’s tangible touch. A femininity that is at once delicate and strong, seductive and austere, visible, felt, affirmed.
