The Houdini singer has been chosen as the new face of the latest handbag from the French maison: the Chanel 25. The announcement was made through a short film released on Chanel’s social media channels. In the video, Dua Lipa is seen wearing the spacious shoulder bag to the sound of She Drives Me Crazy, the 1988 hit by Fine Young Cannibals.
Directed by Gordon von Steiner, the film captures Dua Lipa strolling through New York with the elegant new quilted black handbag. The brand described the choice with these words: “An artistic icon of her generation, the House’s friend embodies freedom of movement and self-expression, fundamental values for Chanel.”
Inspired by the iconic 2.55 — which, after 70 years, remains one of the most coveted handbags in the world — the new Chanel 25 reflects a contemporary approach. Crafted from lightweight and supple quilted leather, it is available in medium and large sizes, both accompanied by a practical clutch that can be used separately.
Dua Lipa’s connection with Chanel dates back to 2018 when, still on the rise, she chose the prestigious maison for a look worn during a performance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Five years later, in 2023, she donned three Chanel ensembles while co-chairing the Met Gala, which paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld. More recently, in November, the singer kicked off her Radical Optimism tour in Asia, wearing custom Chanel looks, including black and white tulle jumpsuits adorned with sequins and pleats, tweed braids, and a tulle dress embellished with white sequins and black leather details.
Thus, the relationship between Dua Lipa and the iconic French fashion house has strengthened over time. As for the full version of the new campaign, it will only be released in March.
