Louis Vuitton relaunches its iconic collaboration with renowned artist Takashi Murakami in a vibrant campaign featuring the maison’s Ambassador, Zendaya. This re-edition breathes new life into Louis Vuitton’s signature elements, infusing them with a playful touch that revives the essence of Y2K pop culture.
Fun, vibrant, and full of meaning, the Louis Vuitton × Murakami collection marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic partnership between the brand and the Japanese artist. With over 200 pieces – including handbags, footwear, fragrances, and sunglasses – the collection reflects Louis Vuitton’s ongoing commitment to creativity, innovation, and excellence, while immersing itself in Murakami’s unique and colourful artistic universe.
To celebrate this enduring creative partnership, the Louis Vuitton × Murakami campaign stars Zendaya in a series of bold and stunning images captured by renowned Dutch photographers Inez & Vinoodh. Zendaya, the embodiment of modern energy and the creative spirit of this collaboration, wears pieces from the collection while playfully interacting with Murakami’s fantastic artworks, created exclusively for this re-edition – set against striking and evocative urban backdrops.
In the visuals, Murakami’s captivating Superflat Garden floral motifs, alongside his Superflat and Superflat Panda characters, appear exuberantly in iconic locations, accompanying the actress through urban landscapes, roller coasters and amusement parks, historic bridges, and city parks. To amplify the campaign’s playful tone, the Superflat Garden flowers seem to emerge from the frame, while Superflat and Superflat Panda interact with the letters of the Louis Vuitton logo – marking the first time the brand’s name has been physically altered in a campaign.
In the images, Zendaya wears a selection of sophisticated and joyful pieces from the Louis Vuitton × Murakami re-edition. Among them are revamped versions of classic Louis Vuitton handbags, including the All In BB, Speedy 25, OnTheGo, Keepall, and Capucines Mini, as well as Monogram Mules, luxurious silk Bandeau scarves, and vibrant leather LV belts.
The Louis Vuitton × Murakami campaign with Zendaya is a true celebration of the contemporary relevance of this reimagined collection, reinforcing the status of the original collaboration as a landmark in fashion, collectability, and 21st-century pop culture.
