Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami celebrate 20 years of a historic partnership with the launch of a special re-edition that honours the creative vision that shaped the early 21st century. Titled Louis Vuitton × Murakami, this collection reinterprets the designs and patterns that revolutionised the maison and pop culture, now enhanced by technological innovations that elevate the colours and details.
Murakami, renowned for his vibrant aesthetic that blends Japanese tradition with pop culture and science fiction, introduced the world to the Monogram Multicolore – a bold and colourful reimagining of Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram. This collaboration, initiated with Marc Jacobs, continues to be celebrated through over 200 contemporary pieces, including handbags, scarves, footwear, fragrances, and accessories. The Monogram Multicolore, featuring floral motifs and LV logos in 33 distinct shades, shines on creations like the iconic Speedy, Dauphine, and OnTheGo bags, alongside exclusive pieces such as trunks and skateboards.
Other highlights of the collection include the Superflat Panda and Cherry Blossom patterns, which adorn items such as trainers, perfume bottles, and sandals, showcasing Murakami’s playful and timeless spirit. Every detail has been meticulously crafted, combining the maison’s artisanal tradition with technological precision.
The collection will be accompanied by an immersive campaign, featuring pop-ups, special window displays, and in-store activations, inviting collectors and fashion enthusiasts to relive this iconic chapter. Available for global pre-order from January 2025, a second chapter focusing on the Cherry Blossom pattern will be launched in March, just in time for spring. This re-edition is not merely a celebration of the past but a vision of how art and luxury continue to redefine timelessness in the world of fashion.
