Penha Longa Catering recently inaugurated a new event venue, the Palácio da Fonte Nova, located on an 18th-century estate in Rio de Mouro, Sintra. Exclusively operated by the resort’s catering service, this venue joins the list of exceptional locations where Penha Longa hosts memorable events.
Surrounded by the enchanting and mystical landscape of Sintra, the Palácio da Fonte Nova stands out for its elegant architecture and gardens filled with historical elements such as fountains, statues, vases, and greenhouses. With its historic charm and welcoming ambiance, the venue is perfect for hosting events of various sizes, from weddings and private celebrations to corporate events. The palace, with its capacity to accommodate between 60 and 1,200 people, offers great versatility, featuring multiple indoor rooms, three gardens, and a courtyard, ensuring unique and unforgettable moments.
This beautiful palace joins five other exclusive venues managed by Penha Longa Catering, such as Alcântara Café in Lisbon, Casa dos Penedos in Sintra, Forte da Cruz in Estoril, Mosteiro da Penha Longa, and the Ruínas Históricas do Núncio, both within the resort in Sintra. Additionally, Penha Longa’s portfolio includes partnerships with iconic locations such as Convento do Beato, Palácio Nacional da Ajuda, Museu dos Coches, and Centro de Congressos do Estoril.
As for Palácio da Fonte Nova, its history dates back to 1743, as recorded on a beam of the house. The property passed through several hands until it was acquired in 2020 by an Argentine couple during the pandemic. Over the years, the main building has undergone several interventions, including in 1917, when a new floor and exterior improvements were added in Portuguese style, with the inclusion of eaves, porches, and porticoes.
The property also features a chapel with an image of ‘Nossa Senhora’, said to have been found in the estate’s vineyards. At one time, the estate housed a dairy farm, later transformed into a residence for nuns, where agricultural activities such as viticulture, horticulture, fruit growing, and livestock farming were developed, as documented at the Sintra Agricultural Fair.
With the recent opening of Palácio da Fonte Nova, Penha Longa Catering strengthens its position as a reference in premium events, offering an idyllic setting that combines history, charm, and versatility.
