The fashion world continues to surprise, especially with the partnerships that have emerged recently. A prime example is the new release from Louis Vuitton: a capsule collection focused on practical apparel, featuring a footwear collaboration with Timberland. Highlighted at Pharrell Williams’ Fall-Winter 2024 men’s show, this line revisits the origins of American Western workwear, reinterpreted through Louis Vuitton’s artisanal lens.
The ready-to-wear collection includes signature denim and leather applique details, inspired by Old West wardrobes, applied to the pockets of jackets and trucker coats designed with voluminous, sculptural cuts, remaining true to the functional lines of American workwear. Turquoise buttons, embroidery, and studs adorn the pieces, showcasing the maison’s delicate savoir-faire.
One of the standout elements of the collection is the Keepall 50 Toolbox, which offers a utilitarian approach to the iconic Louis Vuitton bag. This piece is lined in Monogram Canvas and equipped with multiple external pockets. The collection also includes a steel flask and a cigarette case, both engraved with motifs inspired by American Western work boots, as well as a silk scarf that pays homage to this timeless accessory.
The biggest highlight is the capsule collection’s first-ever work boot collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Timberland. The LV 6-Inch boot is presented in two models and various versions, featuring thermal insulation and waterproof construction with sealed seams. These boots have an exclusive rubber sole, elegant Monogram LV embossing, Monogram-embossed linings, Louis Vuitton eyelets, and leather tags in traditional wheat or black colors.
Previously unveiled this year during Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton and Timberland have reimagined the iconic boots in seven different versions. They are made from more durable materials, such as premium Italian Nubuck leather, while maintaining the waterproof construction and robust rubber soles. Despite their durability, comfort remains a priority. In addition to typical Timberland features, the embossed monograms and 18-karat gold details reveal the maison’s DNA.
“Timberland makes perfect sense,” Pharrell said about LV’s partnership with the ubiquitous American footwear manufacturer. “It’s something we love, but at the same time, whether we’re on the street or in a factory, Timberlands last long and are tough. And if we’re going to spend our income at a time like this, it has to be on something that really lasts. And the one thing you know about Timberland is that it will last.”
Although this is the maison’s first official collaboration with the iconic American footwear brand, Louis Vuitton has been creating versions of Timberland boots since the days of Virgil Abloh. The late and influential menswear designer was a huge enthusiast of this style, having collaborated directly with Timberland on several occasions through his Off-White brand. Pharrell Williams, the current creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line, also has a long history of collaborations with Timberland, particularly through his Bee Line brand in the early 2010s.
