Built in 1963, the Le Schuylkill Tower was the first high-rise building constructed in Monaco. Occupying a prominent position in Monte Carlo, this residential tower overlooks the principality’s Port Hercule, offering panoramic views to the south, including the royal palace, the old town, and the Mediterranean Sea. Invited by the owner to conduct a feasibility study of the tower, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) assessed the development potential and the extent of work required to renovate the existing building. Following this thorough analysis, the firm was appointed, alongside the local office Square Architecte, to renovate and expand the tower. Construction work has already begun, with completion scheduled for May 2027. The renovation and remodeling of the Le Schuylkill Tower by ZHA respects the client’s desire to preserve the design legacy of the existing structure, working within the constraints of the 60-year-old building while elevating all living standards to those now expected by Monaco residents. The renovation replaces the tower’s top two floors with three new ones, supported by the existing building structure. The introduction of these new floors preserves the original 1963 structure and creates six penthouses with unparalleled views over the port of Monte Carlo.
