When tradition, mastery, and millennia-old heritage passed down through generations join hands with entrepreneurship and creativity, the result can only be exceptional: Olival, an unprecedented collection that perfectly harmonizes high-quality olive oil production, the “Alentejo gold”, with the best tradition of artistic ceramics.
With the unmistakable mark of Esporão and Bordallo Pinheiro, who have joined in a lasting alliance to bring to every table a true homage to national craftsmanship, the Olival collection, consisting of a platter, a jug, a salad bowl, a dessert plate, a cheese plate, and an olive oil tasting bowl, promises a true aesthetic and sensory experience.
A perfect delight for the senses, the entire tableware line is inspired by the olive tree, symbolizing eternity and immortality, peace, wisdom, and fertility, and by the Alentejo landscape, with its typical whitewashed walls in a setting also marked by rustic wisdom and beauty.
Delicately crafted by skillful and experienced hands, each unique piece is designed to enhance the color of olive oil, celebrating the richness of this “nectar of the gods” in national cuisine, contrasting with the white and intricately hand-painted decorative elements.
On the textured white surface of the pieces, faithfully evoking the whitewashed coating of Alentejo houses, the olive tree takes center stage through various compositions, such as branches, the trunk with its different textures, or olives, like the Galega, the most emblematic native variety of Portugal, in various ripening shades—all ceramic reliefs painted by hand.
The presentation of Olival recently took place at Herdade do Esporão, in an event that, besides a visit to the estate’s various olive groves, included an olive oil tasting, culminating in a dinner that naturally featured olive oil and Olival as the protagonists. An experience, like olive oil, also divine, under the baton of Carlos Teixeira, head chef of the Herdade do Esporão restaurant, recognized with a Michelin star and a Green star, in a sublime harmony of flavors. The unexpected presentation of a group of Cante Alentejano, an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, brought the night to a golden close.
The Olival collection is already on sale.
