Every year, around the month of May, the high jewelry ateliers of Maison Chopard showcase their creativity and expertise. Created by Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, to make actresses shine even more on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, for which Chopard has been the official sponsor since 1998, the Red Carpet Collection has become, over the years, the most anticipated event in the house’s jewelry calendar. This year was no exception, and the 77-piece “Contes de Fées” collection, inspired by the world of fairy tales, illuminated the Croisette (Cannes). Tender, playful, and extravagant creations, always precious, accompanied pieces of regal elegance in a dreamlike and enchanted world. A month after the event dedicated to the 7th Art, and as a member of the jewelry sector of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Chopard showcased a selection of creations from its Red Carpet Collection during Paris Haute Couture Week, which took place this year from June 24 to 27.
“Once upon a time…”
Around the world, in all cultures, and at all times of life, fairy tales are part of the collective imagination. These fabulous stories, often based on popular folklore, invite us to dream and open the doors of imagination. Enchanted forests, distant kingdoms, talking animals, fantastic creatures with magical powers… are some of the childhood memories that inspired Caroline Scheufele through a brilliant and very personal interpretation. In the chimerical world of “Contes de Fées,” Chopard’s fairy tales, the wonderful intersects with high jewelry in its purest form, with magical creations that echo pieces of royal classicism. The Red Carpet 2024 collection illustrates all this, and much more, thanks to the remarkable work of passionate artisans.
Highlighted pieces
There are several fantastic creations! We highlight the sculptural necklace inspired by the oak tree — whose intertwining of ethical rose gold and titanium, adorned with tsavorite leaves, briolette-cut yellow sapphire flowers, and sculpted titanium acorns, required six months of work and the involvement of four jewelers and gem setters; the two long pendants adorned, respectively, with a diamond and ruby key and a heart covered with a pavé of diamonds and blue and pink sapphires, with matching earrings; the two rings inspired by the world of fairy tales where, in the first, two titanium and pear-cut emerald frogs hold a crown of ethical yellow gold set with rubellites and white and yellow diamonds — at the center is a magnificent 17.7-carat round-cut rubellite, and in the second, an angel, whose face is delicately sculpted in ethical white gold and arms are set with diamonds, from which emerge watermelon tourmaline wings chiseled and adorned with diamond beads. To enhance the neckline, three pairs of long earrings feature diamonds, emeralds, and pear-cut yellow diamonds; another pair of earrings, for the more adventurous, made of titanium set with emeralds, is adorned with Paraíba tourmaline flowers and diamonds. On the wrist, the magnificent ethical white gold bracelet shines with three rows of emerald beads and marquise-cut diamonds around three heart-cut emeralds.
About Chopard high jewelry
The extraordinary Animal World collection confirmed Chopard’s position in 2010 in the firmament of High Jewelry Houses. Caroline Scheufele broke with common language by choosing not only the most noble animals but also by paying homage to the animal world in all its vastness. Rats, flies, pigs, sardines, and spiders received the same attention as polar bears, butterflies, peacocks, and parrots. Challenging conventions, pushing the limits of audacity and possibility, as is the case with this Red Carpet Collection, has been her work.
