The Ray of Gold pattern, a major protagonist of Roberto Cavalli Home Interiors’ new home collections, caused a sensation during the days of the Milan design and furniture show (April 2024), the Salone del Mobile Milano. To this end, and as part of this event, a tram traversed the city streets adorned with the pattern, and in collaboration with AD magazine, the Condé-Nast Bistrot in Piazza Cordusio dressed up in style, featuring that print that is already an icon of the maison’s sensibility and creativity.
About Ray of Gold
The story of Ray of Gold begins with Roberto Cavalli, the prolific mind who dared to combine tones and patterns in his fashion creations. From moments sitting at a table at a sidewalk cafe, with the camera always by his side, to the ray of sunlight illuminating the surface of the gold lighter when lighting a cigarette, to his sharp and quick glance, focusing on a moment, on nature, and captured by the camera lens… And then, this photograph is transferred to fabric, becoming a pattern that illuminates the Roberto Cavalli spring-summer 2007 collection with its golden rays. Thus, Ray of Gold is born. An intuition turned reality, a sign from nature, a light transformed into a long dress with a trompe-l’œil effect whose infinite rays fall over the body like a veil. And this pattern born from a golden ray not only mesmerized those present at that fashion show but also gave Roberto Cavalli additional allure when transitioning from ready-to-wear to haute couture special creations. Today, as before, its strength persists and seduces: Jennifer Lopez wore it at the “Diamond Gala” at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles (2022).
Fausto Puglisi continues the success of Ray of Gold
“I began exploring the Cavalli archive from a famous caftan that had been made for Marta Marzotto. It was embroidered on a fabric with the Ray of Gold pattern, created by Cavalli himself, which led me to consider his passion for Art Déco,” says Fausto Puglisi, the maison’s creative director. Puglisi signs the Ray of Gold capsule collection that unfolds this motif and its colors across all the brand’s creations: Ready-to-wear, beachwear, eyewear, and Home.
Cavalli Home Interiors dresses the home and garden in luxury
The Home Interiors selection presents a wide rectangular dining table with rounded corners in smooth curves and legs arched in solid black beech wood, geometrically reproducing the winged sleeves of the first Ray of Gold dress from 2007. The scenic presence comes from its top, where the decorative Ray of Gold motif is worked with the inlay technique using three different wood essences: Tanganika Frise for the ivory part, Tanganika for the black part, and Pama for the yellow part. A table resulting from meticulous craftsmanship, characteristic of Roberto Cavalli Home Interiors production. The result is a sculptural element that connects design creation to artistic value in a pure definition of contemporary luxury — the table is produced by the Oniro Group, the company specialized in luxury design and manufacturer of all furniture items for the brand.
The Tableware range is complemented by ceramic tableware and ceramic objects produced by Compagnia del Cristallo: coffee and tea cups of various shapes, round and cylindrical, saucers, and a complete range of serving plates. All in the typical shades also found in the candlestick. In turn, the Linen collection, produced by Mirabello Carrara, offers many solutions for the bedroom and bed: cotton sheets and velvet cotton quilts coordinate with towels and bathrobes in terry fabric, with the pattern declined in various whites and colors. On the wall, the Ray of Gold pattern, produced by Industrie Emiliana Parati, is incredibly suggestive; tiles, with ceramic from the Cerdisa Ricchetti Group, bring the magic of light to surfaces, floor, and wall — the same magic that Roberto Cavalli himself captured with his lens, spreading that refracted ray of light in gold, in various environments.
