Hermès has revealed its new tableware service, designed under the artistic direction of Benoit Pierre Emery, Creative Director of La Table Hermès. The collection consists of twenty-seven elegant elements and is called Tressages Équestres.
Interwoven cotton and leather threads bear the Hermès mark, not only in the hands of the craftsman but also in the horse, the rider, and the bonds that unite them.
Tressages Équestres was inspired by the passementerie and braiding used in the manufacturing of harnesses that are rooted in the house’s origins. The dinner service offers a subtle blend of figurative and abstract representations. Comprising twenty-seven pieces, including ten new pieces of hollowware, it is designed to complement kitchens worldwide. The ubiquitous kaolin white of the porcelain provides a perfect showcase for Virginie Jamin’s designs. Her lines—thin or dense but always precise—give volume to the illustrated textures. The vibrant colors of lemon and mint contrast with petroleum blue and the natural tones of fibers and leather.
Playing with scale, the motifs differ from one piece to another. Each combination of objects is balanced, creating as many stories as compositions.
