Part of the Heritage collection, these two new watches share a dial with the iconic Snowflake pattern. In 2005, Grand Seiko introduced what would become a brand icon, the Snowflake, created by the Shinshu Watch Studio in the heart of the Japanese Alps. Inspired by and made in the shadow of the Hotaka Mountains, this titanium watch is powered by a Spring Drive 9R caliber and features a stunning dial whose pattern and color recall the texture of snow, thus earning its name.
Almost two decades later, the 41 mm Grand Seiko SBGA211 remains a much-loved timepiece, a best-seller for the brand and possibly the best-known representation of Grand Seiko’s philosophy: the Nature of Time. Today, the Shinshu Watch Studio expands the Snowflake line with two models, with 37 mm and 28.9 mm diameter cases respectively.
The new SBGX355 model, with a 37 mm diameter case, is constructed from the same light alloy as the original Spring Drive model: exclusive high-intensity titanium. Together with the watch’s lightness, its smaller proportions make it a perfect medium-sized model for all wrists. Water resistant to 10 bar and accompanied by a titanium bracelet with triple folding clasp and push-button release, the Grand Seiko SBGX355 is the ideal watch for everyday use.
With a smaller diameter of 28.9 mm, the Grand Seiko STGF385 is a feminine watch. Sharing most of the features of the STGF359, its elegance is emphasized by the bezel set with 44 diamonds. Unlike the original 37 mm Snowflake models, the Grand Seiko STGF385 is made of stainless steel and is accompanied by a three-link bracelet, also made of steel.
The dials of both the Grand Seiko SBGX355 and STGF385 feature the popular snowflake motif, with an emphasis on the perfectly polished faceted hands and indexes and the blued seconds hands, along with the date window. Both watches are powered by quartz calibers and therefore benefit from extreme precision of ±10 seconds per year.
The new Grand Seiko SBGX355 and STGF385 Snowflake are available in Grand Seiko boutiques and from authorized retailers around the world, such as David Rosas.
