Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, IWC Schaffhausen presented two performance chronographs dedicated to its motorsport partners: Mercedes-AMG and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team.
Produced in titanium or Ceratanium®, the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 combines IWC’s expertise in chronographs with the use of advanced materials. A distinctive feature is the ceramic bezel with tachymeter scale, allowing the average speed to be measured based on the distance travelled. The glossy black dials include inlaid totalizers, indexes, and numerals with Super-LumiNova®, complementing the elegant design. All models are powered by the IWC-manufactured caliber 69385 and offer water resistance up to 10 bar.
IWC Schaffhausen has a long history of manufacturing instrumental watches, where performance criteria such as high precision, robustness, reliability, and durability are fundamental to the watch company’s DNA. The performance spirit of IWC’s products is also reflected in two of its oldest partnerships. In 2004, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer became a partner of Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance car subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz. As a logical continuation, IWC became the “Official Engineering Partner” of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team in 2013. Now, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer is launching two performance chronographs dedicated to these motorsport partnerships.
“Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 combines our extensive know-how in developing industry-leading chronographs with our extensive expertise in advanced materials. Both new chronographs feature ceramic bezels with tachymeter scales, adding the dimension of speed to highly accurate time measurements and making these robust chronographs the perfect companions for people with a dynamic, fast-paced lifestyle,” explains Chris Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.
