Dior unveils the men’s collection for the coming spring, crafted by Dior Men’s Artistic Director, Kim Jones. It is a stylistic exercise that embraces balanced pieces with temporal references, from the rich heritage of the maison to the influence of the 1980s Buffalo movement by Ray Petri.
Kim Jones redefines the contours of men’s wardrobe, shaping a neo-identity, centered around the campaign featuring singer, dancer, and composer Jimin, who is also the global ambassador of the brand and a close friend of the French house.
Between graphic refinement and bucolic romanticism, Alasdair McLellan’s photographs capture the reinvention of these fashion codes. The collection’s architecture becomes more flexible, prioritizing comfort and functionality, challenging the role of modern tailoring.
Highlights in this line include coats made of cotton and silk canvas, adorned with brooches evoking ceremonial insignias, intertwined with iconic Dior emblems. High-necked knits, softly twisted or made of cashmere with removable bandanas, offer a gentle and sophisticated alternative. Regarding the maison’s symbols, they are renewed, notably the Dior signature applied to sleeveless sweaters, and the diamond CD transformed into a rhomboid pattern. Captivating timelessness is also present in this collection, seen in the Hit the Road backpack.
The Dior Men’s collection for spring 2024 is thus a tribute to the historical legacy of the fashion house, alongside a contemporary and subversive approach. Quality, attention to detail, and the fusion of diverse influences have resulted in a collection that expresses luxury and modernity.
