Villa Massa, the world’s best-selling Limoncello brand whose history dates back to 1890, now introduces the new Villa Massa Amaretto, a high-quality almond liqueur sourced from Sicily, smooth and balanced.
“Sicilian almonds are characterized by their thick and woody shell—it’s the perfect packaging that nature gives us, protecting the almond from the outside, preserving the intense flavor and aroma of the fruit inside, which can be enjoyed in our Villa Massa Amaretto,” explains Julian Fernandez, Global Director of Marketing and Innovation for Spirit Drinks at Zamora Company, the current owner of the brand.
The transparent bottle of Villa Massa Amaretto, similar to Limoncello, showcases the amber-colored liquid inside and has a label design that transports the consumer to a blooming almond tree garden. “This is the Amaretto for quality-conscious consumers looking for products with real and natural ingredients,” adds Fernandez.
Villa Massa is known for its strict criteria in ingredient selection, working only with Italian-origin and highest-quality ingredients, including DOP lemons from Sorrento. For this exceptional Villa Massa Amaretto, the Italian brand chose almonds from the island of Sicily, where the warm temperatures throughout the year and fertile volcanic soil produce almonds with a greater intensity of characteristic flavor and aroma.
Tasting notes
A deliciously sweet and smooth liqueur, characterized by an aroma with marzipan notes on the nose and an intense and lasting almond taste. Vanilla, cherry, and cocoa notes on the finish, and with 30% ABV, the alcohol, sweetness, and bitter almond flavors are perfectly balanced. It is recommended to be consumed as a digestif, in a low glass and with ice.
About
Villa Massa is the world’s premium Limoncello No.1, produced on the Sorrento Peninsula, Italy. Owned by Zamora Company, Villa Massa was founded by Stefano and Sergio Massa in 1991, following an ancient family recipe dating back to the 1890s. It was the first company to market artisanal Limoncello in Italy with global distribution. The lemons used come from the slopes of Sorrento (Campania region, Italy), overlooking the Bay of Naples. The trees are grown in volcanic soil, in a mild microclimate, allowing for the slow maturation of lemons. In 2000, the Oval Lemons of Sorrento used in the production of Villa Massa Limoncello gained Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) recognition from the European Union. In 2008, the liqueur made from these lemons also gained special recognition in its category—”Licore di Limone di Sorrento.” Only manufacturers using these lemons can use the seal and include the name “Sorrento” on their bottle or use representative images of the region. Villa Massa recently won the gold medal in the “fruit liqueurs” category at The Spirit Business’ “Global Spirits Masters 2017” annual event. EMPOR Spirits, which represents and distributes Villa Massa in Portugal, is a 100% national company with a diverse and high-quality portfolio, exclusively importing several premium and internationally recognized brands.
