Announced as the fifth chapter of Hermès beauty, its recently launched makeup line focuses on the enhancement of the eyes. In the words of Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of the maison, “The Hermès woman observes the world with an active gaze. Above all, she is a woman who observes”.
Launched in 2020, Hermès Beauty has been releasing products, materials, and colors with ethical concerns stemming from the essential pursuit of beauty. Le Regard Hermès presents itself as the latest chapter in this research, combining technical knowledge with expertise in shades, textures, and techniques. Marking the fulfillment of a beauty story, this edition opens the possibility of a complete Hermès makeup.
Le Regard Hermès highlights another facet of femininity that is both expressive and mysterious. In collaboration with the experts of the house, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of Hermès; Gregoris Pyrpylis, creative director of Hermès Beauty; and Pierre Hardy, creative director of Hermès shoes and jewelry and designer of Hermès Beauty objects, shared the same goal: to create a new language, a new way of expressing emotions through this eye makeup collection.
Six color palettes, six eyeshadow quartets
The six palettes each consist of four silk powder eyeshadows in harmonies of pigmented tones ranging from natural to intense, including some of the maison’s iconic colors. Each palette contains two round and two square shadows in a geometric composition echoing the Bauhaus style.
The six harmonies of colored shadows are each composed of three powders of graduated intensity, enlivened by a fourth, stronger color that adds a creative touch:
Ombres Pétales
A graceful palette with a poetic floral heritage accentuated by the sensual innocence of pink and plum tones.
Ombres Végétales
Green foliage with an iridescent glow, an illuminated garden full of nature.
Ombres Fauves
Amber notes reminiscent of silky fabric punctuated by a dazzling and ephemeral orange, like the autumn sun.
Ombres Marines
An intense blue full of tones of density and mystery, like glimpses of the ocean.
Ombres Fumées
Tempestuous shades tinged with a cold light. A shadowy presence with celestial touches.
Ombres Mordorées
A golden and luminous horizon with hints of bronze, like the bright embers of fall.
Each formula is composed of a minimum of 72% and up to 98% natural origin ingredients, depending on the product and shade. Whether matte, satin, or shimmering, the shadows are inspired by the silk métier: matte finish evokes silk chiffon, satin finish suggests silk twill, and shimmering finish recalls silk lamé. Soft and lightweight, the product is easy to apply, comfortable, and long-lasting.
The Ombres d’Hermès are refillable objects housed in refined and precious round boxes designed by Pierre Hardy, like all Hermès Beauty objects. The white and gold discs in brushed permabrass, marked with the Hermès ex-libris, are similar to Rose Hermès and Hermès Plein Air objects, creating a cohesive makeup line.
The shadows offer infinite potential in their expressions; the tones of each palette can be used alone or mixed. For even greater freedom of expression, the shadows can be applied with brushes or fingertips for a natural finish and eyes that are intense, lifted, and radiant.
