This year, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death and the 25th anniversary of their collaboration, the French Maison wanted to pay tribute to the painter once again by creating a line of lighters, pens, and cigar accessories as splendid as they are original.
Few names are as synonymous with the Modern Art period as Pablo Picasso, and the luxury accessories manufacturer is launching a limited edition collection, led by two lighters and a series of accessories based on his famous Portrait of Jacqueline with a Straw Hat, created in 1962.
This isn’t the first time S.T. Dupont has incorporated Picasso’s art into their accessories. The connection between this French manufacturer and the acclaimed artist dates back several decades. In the early 1960s, Picasso used S.T. Dupont pieces to create new artworks. The artist even gifted his son and daughter-in-law two Dupont lighters that he adorned himself: one featured an engraved Harlequin, the other a Pierrot, both characters originating from the early Italian theater form known as Commedia dell’arte. In return, the French company first honored Picasso with a collection launched in 1998 and in recent years, revisited his works. In 2017, they released the Profil de Femme collection, featuring a popular Picasso piece from 1965, followed by the Dove collection in 2018, depicting Picasso’s famous 1949 sketch of a dove, commonly referenced as a peace symbol.
In addition to the Line 2 lighters, offering dual-flame action, and Slimmy, the complete Picasso 2023 collection includes a new line of Line D Eternity writing instruments in medium and large sizes, an iPhone case, a white leather bag, and a leather clutch. For cigar enthusiasts, the collection is complemented by a triple cigar case in silver metal and grained white leather. A white lacquered ashtray with Picasso and S.T. Dupont signatures adds a touch of sophistication. A white leather keychain is also available for those who wish to carry a piece of art with them.
This rich, optimistic, and colorful collection not only reflects Picasso’s art but also the excellence and skill of S.T. Dupont. It is now available in brand boutiques and online.
