When black gives birth to color… Although black opposes all colors, sometimes it can be their source, the chromatic matrix, the trailblazer. Just like the chiaroscuro effect, the new limited edition lipsticks are as luminous as they are shadowy: a striking contrast, an invitation to explore the various intense and colorful shades of black.
Once again designed by Pierre Hardy, the creator of Hermès Beauty objects, three original tubes envelop the black hues. In the first one, a sunbeam contrasts with a bluish-green extension; in the second, an explosion of amethyst is combined with a flash of orange; while a variation of emerald is paired with a purple flourish in the third.
The lines merge into a lacquered mist, and their proportions seem reinvented. The object appears hazy, like a foggy landscape where light pierces through clouds in a cross-fading from black to color.
These deep and dense black tones deposit a subtle veil of unexpected color on the lips, with a non-sticky texture, providing shine and comfort. “The color and texture can be worked according to mood or moment, instinctively,” says Gregoris Pyrpylis, Creative Director of Hermès Beauty, referring to two application options:
– The bullet tip allows the application of multiple layers with high precision. The color becomes more intense and bright, never masking the lips but simply beautifying them with a translucent, shimmering veil;
– Applying the product with a finger provides a lighter, softer, and more transparent result. The color is tempered, blending with the skin as if it comes from within, with the texture evaporating.
The three new distinctive colors with a soft sheen are:
– 72 Rouge Bruni: a strong brick-red with warm and velvety tones;
– 84 Rouge Abysse: an elegant burgundy with a touch of cobalt, a true midnight sun;
– 90 Prunoir: a purple illuminated from within with hints of pink.
Like the previous ones, these three new items from the limited edition Rouge Hermès fall-winter 2023 collection are refillable with any other shade from the permanent Rouge Hermès collection. They are already available and for a limited time, in selected Hermès stores worldwide.
