Montblanc’s latest collection of writing instruments draws inspiration from the beauty of the galaxy to celebrate the wonders of space. The StarWalker SpaceBlue line captures humanity’s fascination with space exploration and the marvel of walking among the stars. Much like those who push the boundaries of technological advancement and human knowledge on Earth and beyond, Montblanc explores a variety of materials and techniques with each edition it releases. The Montblanc StarWalker SpaceBlue collection, with its modern aesthetic and innovative techniques, serves as a reminder of the discoveries yet to be made in the vast expanse of space and all the stories yet to be written.
Turning from Planet Earth to the stars and the galaxy, the StarWalker SpaceBlue is inspired by materials from space, notably the Widmanstätten pattern, considered one of Nature’s most mesmerizing creations. The central focus of the design of this new edition is precisely a representation of this fascinating pattern, paying homage to Viennese scientist Count Alois von Beckh Widmanstätten, who was one of the first to discover and study the phenomenon in 1808. As the flame heated iron meteorites, he noticed differentiation in color and brightness as various iron alloys oxidized at different rates, displaying thin bands or interleaved ribbons of kamacite and taenite called lamellae. A pattern that forms only in the depths of planetary bodies that take years to cool, it has now been recreated by Montblanc craftsmen in precious resin using a recently developed injection molding tool—creating an elevated sensory writing experience. Thus, the resulting customized tactile pattern is combined with a midnight blue tone that evokes the night sky just before being illuminated by the passage of a meteorite. A unique design feature of the StarWalker collection, each piece is crowned with a floating Montblanc emblem on a translucent smoky blue top of the cap.
The new StarWalker SpaceBlue collection includes three different editions of writing instruments—a Resin edition made in matte blue precious resin with dark ruthenium-coated details, a Doué edition that combines a stamped precious resin body with a metal cap, and a Metal edition entirely crafted in stamped metal. Each edition is available as a ballpoint pen, fineliner, and Fountain Pen with a ruthenium-coated Au 585 nib and equipped with a piston converter specifically designed for the StarWalker collection, compatible with previous models.
To enhance the writing experience of the new StarWalker SpaceBlue pens, Montblanc introduces a blue leather-coated notebook with the distinctive pattern on the cover, as well as a matching dark blue ink. A pair of steel and lacquer cufflinks with the exclusive StarWalker translucent dome design has been added to complete the collection.
