It was important to “return to the brand’s fundamentals and rekindle the artistic and olfactory bonds that take us back to an inspiring African realm.” The toile de Jouy setting, designed by artist Thierry Larcher, invites us to discover the African deltas, the kinetic and colorful Wax fabrics, where baobabs shine against the glass like guardians of a land on the brink of extinction, framing each candle in Baobab Collection’s new collections.
Past and present blend to introduce a contemporary and modern Africa. The Maxi Wax collection was born from the new creative collaboration between the company and Uniwax in Abidjan, for which three scented candles and glass diffusers with a Wax pattern were created. The olfactory identities of woody Panya, floral Malia, and spicy Nyeleti are balanced and echo the essence of Baobab Collection’s home fragrances. To illustrate this work, Kenyan photographer Thandiwe Muriu created three portraits using the brand’s exclusive patterns.
Panya
It’s the most “African” of the Maxi Wax collection, adorned with an ethnic pattern inspired by coffee beans. Its African feminine name means woman of fire, and its fragrance is a woody explosion of incense and cedar. The Panya fragrance diffuser is adorned with a motif that recalls ethnic inspirations from traditional African textiles. A woody fragrance of incense, cedar, and leather that aims to transport us to the mysterious African landscape, rich in contrasts.
Malia
It is the noblest candle in the Maxi Wax collection, named after the Swahili word for queen. Its glass decoration in shades of green and coral reveals an almost kinetic floral design. The magic of the glass ignites a fragrance marked by hyacinth, lily, and almond blossom. In a glass decorated with a floral and kinetic motif, the Malia diffuser perfumes the home with a floral and gourmet fragrance, taking you on a journey into the imagination of an African queen who embodies all the charms of Africa. Malia, this queen, is majestic and seductive, wandering the beaches of Ivory Coast, leaving behind a trail of floral notes with hyacinth and lily. The base note of gourmet almond blossom gives the fragrance its refined and feminine quality.
Nyeleti
The candle is named after an African star. The spicy fragrance of cedar, amber, and incense in this scented piece is enhanced by the glass decoration in strong colors, in a very contemporary style. Nyeleti embodies the magic of the night. Its haunting aroma is that of an African starry sky, where intoxicating music frees the body, opening the way to spirituality, exuberance, and sensuality.
In turn, the three limited edition proposals, Delta, with their hand-blown glass vessels resembling a landscape – that of the land viewed from the sky, subtly reminiscent of the waves of the rivers of African deltas – release fragrances inspired by African essences, where vetiver wood is the main chord.
Okavango
Made of hand-blown glass, the Okavango candle is a unique object in which brown, ochre, and khaki green form a chimerical landscape. The designs on the glass resemble a photograph of the land seen from the sky. The Okavango Delta is sublimated by the diffusion of an aromatic fragrance with notes of bergamot, absinthe, and Indonesian patchouli. The Totem Okavango diffusers, available in 2 and 5-liter versions, sophisticated and refined decoration pieces in glass blown by Polish craftsmen, emit swirls of earthy colors. Its aromatic fragrance unfolds over time, with notes of bergamot, absinthe, and Indonesian patchouli. A magical ecosystem, home to rare species, the Okavango Delta gathers the aromatic fragrances of a land full of contrasts, aromatic notes of a landscape filled with water and fruit. Bergamot unfolds its citrus notes and gives way to absinthe, a plant with green leaves and herbal notes. The strength of this perfume comes from its base note of Indonesian patchouli, which gives it warmth and vivacity.
Nil
The hand-blown glass of the Nil candle pays tribute to the blue of the Mediterranean Sea, where the Nile River ends its journey and releases a fresh fragrance of papyrus flower, sea salt, and moss. The Nil perfume diffusers from the Delta collection are hand-blown glass in subtle shades of deep blue, gray, and brown. The ceramic cap, manufactured, completes the bottle.
Zambèze
The candle presented in hand-blown glass in shades of coral and black, with colors randomly appearing on the glass, with a powdery effect reminiscent of shagreen, proposes to warm spaces with the warmth of hibiscus notes, combined with the freshness of tea notes and the juice of red fruits. The Totem Zambèze from the Delta collection are large hand-blown glass rechargeable utensils in black and coral. Available in 2 and 5 liters, its floral and gourmet fragrance is an olfactory identity with a strong personality.
Sacred Trees
In addition, there is the limited edition Sacred Trees candle collection, available in 3 glass colors highlighted with a handcrafted baobab effigy, based on a social and economic mission, by donating 5% of sales to the Cœur Vert foundation, which will participate in a reforestation program in Northern Ivory Coast, starting with the Worodougou region. This reforestation program has already begun and will initially involve the planting of 10,000 baobabs and the creation of a garden near the village of Kani, helping to empower women in rural communities and improve their social status.
Afrika
Finally, because Christmas is always special for Baobab Collection, the brand offers the festive Afrika candle, whose screen-printed container was inspired by the tradition of paper cutting, where the Swiss mountains, a common theme in this paper cutting technique, give way to African scenes where the savanna, baobabs, and animals come together in an original composition. The scented Afrika candle exudes a woody fragrance of cashmere wood, cloves, and guaiac wood to dress up spaces for the celebration.
