In this year’s edition, the challenging hill climb between Langwies and Arosa took place for the 19th time. Over the past few years, this internationally renowned event, combining classic motorsport and action against the stunning backdrop of the Bündner mountains, has become one of the most well-known events beyond Switzerland’s borders. The racetrack, situated at approximately 1800 meters above sea level, offers great entertainment for its spectators. Over a distance of 7.3 km, drivers must navigate 76 turns and conquer an altitude difference of 422 meters. IWC Schaffhausen is a partner brand of Arosa ClassicCar.
From August 31 to September 3, Laura Kraihamer’s precision and technical prowess allowed her to effortlessly and elegantly pilot the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing” on the IWC Racing Team’s track. As an ambassador, the driver perfectly embodies IWC’s core values. In the Arosa race, Laura wore a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388102) with a blue dial. This watch features a stainless steel case with a compact diameter of 41 mm and is powered by the precise caliber 69385 manufactured by IWC.
“Concentration is a crucial factor on such a winding route. And needless to say, I don’t just want to be fast; I want to drive with elegance as well,” explained a visibly pleased Laura Kraihamer after the race. This marks her third participation with the IWC Racing Team in Arosa. In 2022, she was behind the wheel at the ICE in St. Moritz, and in 2021, at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting in the UK. She and the historic “Gullwing” always form a strong team.
In 2023, the race featured around 180 registered vehicles, including some true classics. Historic racing cars and sports cars were able to participate in this Arosa event, once again attracting a large number of enthusiastic spectators. Since 2018, the IWC Racing Team has been participating in historic races with a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing.” When the elite of international classic cars gathers in Switzerland, the elegant “Gullwing” stands out and undoubtedly earns its place among the best.
