In order to preserve the long-standing partnership between the two companies and perpetuate their shared history, Rolex has decided to acquire Bucherer. Despite the transaction, the retailer will continue to maintain its name and operate independently. The acquisition places the network of over a hundred Bucherer stores, as well as the Carl F. Bucherer brand, under the Rolex umbrella. Integration into the Rolex group will become effective once competition authorities approve the acquisition deal.
Following Jörg Bucherer’s decision to sell the business in the absence of direct descendants, Rolex has chosen to acquire the independent watch retailing company. This decision reflects the Swiss brand’s desire to perpetuate the success of the Bucherer brand and preserve the partnership that has united them since 1924. The two companies have worked together, contributing to each other’s success and growth for over ninety years. Currently, Rolex is one of the leading luxury watch companies in Switzerland, while Bucherer has become a globally recognized multi-brand retailer with stores in Switzerland, the United States, England, Germany, France, Denmark, and Austria.
Rolex and Bucherer share a long history. Their professional relationship, bonds of friendship, and mutual respect endure to this day. In fact, Jörg Bucherer is the last person still active who knew and worked with Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. In this regard, he will remain as the honorary chairman of the Bucherer group, whose management team will remain the same.
Bucherer has more than a hundred retail locations worldwide, with 53 distributing Rolex and 48 distributing Tudor, also owned by the group. This retailer also provides an after-sales service center for both brands. Their watch maintenance workshops employ watchmakers who have been trained by the company itself and are highly skilled.
The Rolex group believes that this acquisition is the best solution not only for its own brands but also for all partner watch and jewelry brands and for the employees of the Bucherer group. The collaboration between Rolex and other official retailers in its commercial network will remain unchanged.
