Fashion and luxury brands are increasingly finding a new avenue in the beauty products sector. The latest innovation to break into the cosmetics industry is Prada Beauty, venturing into the realms of makeup and skincare.
With the intention to rethink beauty, redefining its definitions and expectations, Prada offers a cutting-edge vision of beauty products created through the fusion of technology and creativity. The Prada Skin line has been developed to help the skin quickly adapt to environmental changes, comprising products ranging from cleansing cream to foundation. On the other hand, Prada Color, designed for eyes and lips, presents versatile colors inspired by fashion, with intelligent textures that invite reinvention.
The Prada beauty team, led by makeup artist Lynsey Alexander and 3D makeup artist Inès Marzat (also known as Inès Alpha), had access to 27,000 different prints and fabrics to ensure the formulas aligned with the brand’s identity. The six diverse eyeshadow palettes mimic Prada fabrics from previous collections – meticulously packaged in embossed palettes featuring the brand’s iconic inverted triangle logo. When it comes to lipsticks, the options are endless and refillable, with 26 shades to choose from. The color range comes in golden and silver packaging, also featuring the inverted triangle motif. Prada’s new line of refillable foundations comes in 33 shades, offering a natural, dewy, and radiant base.
Regarding the skincare line, products include facial moisturizer, serum, and cleanser. Prada Skin’s references are based on Prada’s Adapto.gn Smart Technology, a multipotent complex that helps the skin adapt to the environment in real-time. This precision technology originates from natural actives called adaptogens, a family of fifteen rare plants that have existed for over 400 million years, enduring different geological eras due to their resistance to extreme conditions. In synergy with dermoactive and dermocosmetic principles such as Pro-Xylane, hyaluronic acid, vitamin CG, and ceramides, adaptogens have been refined into a technology that Prada defines as “revolutionary for skincare.”
L’Oréal acquired the Prada Beauty license on January 1, 2021. From that moment on, the French cosmetics giant, led by Cyril Chapuy, quickly revitalized the existing fragrance portfolio in the Italian brand’s catalog by launching perfumes such as Luna Rossa Ocean and Prada Paradoxe. L’Oréal Luxe continues to strengthen its makeup offerings for prominent names: Prada’s skin color products arrive two years after the launch of makeup for Valentino. Some other fashion and beauty brands within the L’Oréal Luxe portfolio, such as Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent, have already been endowed with this extension.
If Christian Dior and Chanel did it, it was only a matter of time until Prada embraced the world of beauty. The Prada Beauty team worked and will continue to work closely with designers Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, along with their creative team. In addition to launching this new collection of beauty products, the Italian house also recently unveiled its collection of fine jewelry, titled Eternal Gold, becoming the first collection of 100% certified recycled gold by a global luxury brand.
Prada Beauty lines are available on prada-beauty.com and prada.com. The products will physically arrive in stores in October, being sold through a highly selective physical distribution.
