Following the success of the limited edition in rose gold presented at Watches & Wonders in Geneva, Frederique Constant now introduces two new versions of the Manufacture Tourbillon, commemorating the brand’s 35th anniversary. The new watches feature a 39mm stainless steel case, with a silver or blue dial, and a modern aesthetic that follows the line of classic design. These two models, presented in limited editions of 350 pieces each, are true examples of the watchmaking expertise of the brand’s manufacture.
2023 is not just the year in which Frederique Constant celebrates its 35th anniversary. This year also marks the 15th anniversary of the first Manufacture Tourbillon movement launched in 2008. With these two new versions, Frederique Constant continues to tread the path that has brought it recognition. The Classic Tourbillon Manufacture in steel currently represents one of the most attractive options in the market due to its watchmaking complication with a classic design.
These two versions with a modern touch are available in blue and silver. The first presents a blue dial with a brushed finish in a polished steel case and a matte blue alligator leather strap. The second stands out by featuring a different tone, with a silver dial and sunray finish. Each piece is individually numbered in the tourbillon cage and engraved on the case back, through which one can admire the finishes of the FC-980 Manufacture movement, such as circular graining and mirrored polishing.
Conceived in the late 18th century and patented in 1801, the tourbillon aims to compensate for the effects of gravity on different points of the escapement through multiple positions, in order to establish an ideal average speed. The meticulous process grants the watch better frequency accuracy – that of the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture is guaranteed for 38 hours. However, Frederique Constant did not settle for reproducing this complication of over 220 years; it chose instead to enrich it with an escape wheel and a silicone lever 15 years ago. This choice offers a movement more resistant to the effects of magnetism and temperature variations, and therefore more precise, in line with the original purpose of the tourbillon.
Now, at 35 years old, Frederique Constant remains a young Manufacture with almost limitless possibilities. Alongside the main collections, the Maison has gradually expanded its range of elite pieces. And the tourbillon is undoubtedly one of its most renowned complications. Frederique Constant thus looks to the future, aiming to produce avant-garde watches endowed with an increasingly delicate aesthetic and constantly enriched finishes.
