The Patek Philippe Calatrava Weekly Calendar watch with reference 5212A-001 becomes the perfect ally for today’s businessmen.
In 2019, Patek Philippe introduced a complication that revolutionized its collection of calendar watches: the weekly calendar. Almost five years later, this piece with a semi-integrated mechanism that indicates, in addition to the day and date, the number of the week in progress, is still a watch much appreciated by aficionados of haute horlogerie and, above all, by entrepreneurs and businessmen.
The launch of this innovative weekly calendar brought with it the design and development of a new self-winding movement: the caliber 26-330 S C J S. This caliber consisted of 304 different components, visible through the sapphire crystal back, thus meeting the requirements of the Patek Philippe stamp. For the indication of the day and the number of the current week, the Swiss watch brand introduced a very innovative semi-integrated mechanism, 1.52 mm thick, which itself required 92 additional components.
In terms of design, the most striking feature of this piece is the typography on the dial, specially created for this watch, which reproduces the authentic handwritten calligraphy of one of the Manufacture’s designers, with different and unique letters and numbers. Carefully traced in black, it gives the dial a personal, unique and poetic touch that recalls the not-so-distant era of handwritten notes on paper diaries.
Its round case, in the unmistakable Calatrava style, is made of steel and is distinguished by its refined construction, with a reported bezel and curved bracelet wings, adorned with a double godrão. The case measures 40 mm in diameter and has a height of 11.18 mm.
