To exalt the strong connection between the mythical snake and the world of art, on Serpenti’s 75th anniversary, Bulgari presented a capsule collection of Serpenti Forever bags, Serpenti in Art, created in collaboration with three contemporary artists, Sunwoo Kim, Zhou Li and Sophie Kitching
An endless source of inspiration throughout time, snakes have always been associated with art, sometimes becoming a manifestation of the infinite human imagination. On Serpenti’s 75th anniversary, this icon of Bulgari’s metamorphosis once again offers a field of infinite and creative experimentation, like a blank canvas for new interpretations.
Born from the collaboration with three contemporary artists whose creative vision and unique mastery enriches Bulgari’s captivating and ever-changing universe of the serpent, the capsule collection of six Serpenti in Art bags was launched in a limited edition of 75 pieces of each model, one for each year of life.
Famed for his symbolic dodo birds, symbolizing the search for freedom and happiness, Sunwoo Kim has brought his artistic universe at the core of the Serpenti Forever top handle bag. Crafted in calf leather, the two animations play with imaginary Day and Night landscapes, topped by the iconic snakehead closure enriched with gemstones eyes.
Zhou Li reimagines Serpenti Forever top handle bag through the distinctive language of her lyrical abstract paintings. Named Ocean and Forest, the calf leather handbags display dreamlike universes through the artist’s exquisite brush-touches, while a golden embroidery and precious applications add a richness of texture to the pieces. A geometric brass top handle with golden mirror finishes and gemstone inlays completes the creations.
Focusing on the duality of the snake and its infinite power of transformation, French-British artist Sophie Kitching plays with opposing forces – day and night, inside and outside – in her versions of the Serpenti Forever top handle bag. Nature-inspired motives, evoking the lively strokes of her paintings, animate the black and white calf leather body, culminating in the iconic snakehead closure with multicolored enamel scales.
