On the Salone del Mobile 2023, Giorgio Armani presented, for the first time at Palazzo Orsini, a selection of Armani/Casa furniture and accessories: novelties such as the brand’s first outdoor collection, as well as new editions of established classics, were displayed in an environment that conveys a sophisticated domestic charm, revealing the creative epicenter where the highest expressions of Armani style come to life.
“My work, both in fashion and design, is a constant search for balance that comes from the choice of materials and the skill of the hands that create them. The presentation of the new Armani/Casa collection in such an intimate environment is a way of highlighting this process, but also of accentuating the variety on offer, which takes advantage of this season to bet on outdoor furniture and the refined materials that characterize such furniture with excellent finishing.”, says Giorgio Armani.
The first Armani/Casa collection entirely dedicated to the exterior is revealed in a display case that recalls the light tones of the building and integrates perfectly with the surroundings. An expression of an unmistakable aesthetic style, the solid teak furniture series includes the Terence sofa and armchair with footrest, the Timothy lounger, the large Thomas dining table, the Turner and Terry side tables and the Thelma folding armchair. Clean, rounded lines are contrasted by wood surfaces embellished with a unique engraved finish reminiscent of wickerwork. The seats and cushions are upholstered in a textured, luminous jacquard Armani/Casa fabric, specially designed to withstand the outdoors, available in bright solid colors or with stylized palm tree motifs inspired by various patterns in the collection.
In another space, the theme of lightness and the concept of embellishing the furniture elements with interlocking components is seen once again in pieces designed for the balcony: the chaise end Pretty sofa; the Sharon sofa and armchair with footrest; the Melrose and Ted tables, with exquisite Taj Mahal quartzite tops and brass accents, which are the newest addition to the permanent pieces – the Nelson dining table and the Riesling bar cabinet.
New editions of iconic furniture made from noble materials and with the same handcrafted finish as an Haute Couture creation appear, such as the Sofia chair, the Antoinette dressing table and the Camilla writing desk, which are presented in new versions, handcrafted in Italy and with mother-of-pearl tiles arranged in a mosaic over the entire surface, creating an almost hypnotic plot with a touchable textured finish. This unique furniture reaffirms the collection’s oriental inspiration – a prominent feature of Armani’s aesthetic – conveying it with such precision that the Art Deco tones are perceived with an indescribable spirit of synthesis.
The collection is completed by a selection of rugs and textile accessories with exquisite details – such as the buttons used to close the pillowcases, in the form of double-sided cufflinks in passementerie – and by a variety of fabrics that evoke the oriental and Art Deco style with the Toldeo, Tashkent and Toyama silk jacquard variants. With its bold and evocative tones, nature “enters” the house to liven up – in an unusual but moderate way – the classic neutral palette with touches of agave green, cobalt blue, orange, gray and lacquer red. Again this year, alongside Murano glass vases with lacquer accents, candles, blessed boxes with handcrafted embellishments and palm wood lined boxes with an Art Deco touch, exclusive and sought-after accessories show off all its charm. The interweaving theme is present throughout the collection and even in small objects, such as the cylindrical candlesticks with wire mesh and the Treccia Tea Set, which includes, in addition to wicker cups upholstered in leather, hourglasses to measure brewing times.
